Hello there.

In 2008, I moved from Toronto, Canada to Kyiv, Ukraine for a four-month university exchange. One weekend, my friends and I took a trip to Kraków, Poland to get out of Ukraine. Personally, I didn’t love life in Kyiv but I wasn’t expecting Poland to be too different. As soon as we got to Kraków, I could feel the difference between the two countries. Long story short, it was a great weekend in Kraków and my spirits were lifted and I was ready to go back to Kyiv with a fresh outlook. After a few more months in Ukraine, I came back to Canada.

“But how did you get to Poland?!” Whoa - hang on cowboy, I’ll get there.

Fast forward to 2017 and that trip to Poland felt like a lifetime ago and I hadn’t even thought about Poland since that weekend in Kraków. That was until I met Katarzyna in Toronto. That was the day that Poland was back on my mind in a big way! We hit it off and fell in love. We ended up dating for a year in Toronto and after doing long-distance (the worst kind of dating!), we decided that we wanted to live together in Warszawa. In February 2019, I packed up my life and moved to Poland.

My life has changed pretty drastically since meeting Kasia and this blog is where I am documenting my experiences of life in Poland so that when I am an old dziadek, I can show my grandkids that I wasn’t always an old fart.
